If there was one device in Klaus P. Rausch’s „Musikmesse 2016 – Synthesizer & Keyboards“ report that aroused my interest, then it was ALPHA Pianos‘ new MPiano.
Please find here what they say on their website about the MPiano:
A concept study on the way to series production.
MPiano is a touch-sensitive keyboard with adjustable key characteristics, a keyboard revolution in an elegant design. The “M” stands for mechatronic piano. Beneath each key is high technology in the form of adjustable actuators that make the resistance and thereby the perceived weight of the keys adjustable. Moreover, the surfaces of the individual keys are touch-sensitive and can thereby be used as a controller. In our model ACTOR, the long sought-after desire of many musicians has been fulfilled: having an instrument for many different areas of application.
In contrast to their ALPHA Piano, the Piano model ACTOR is „just“ a controller. But one that offers polyphonic Aftertouch and there might be other modulation control possible as well. ACTOR allows the playing feel of a concert grand, a church organ, synthesizers or styles of one’s own creation.
A very nice side effect, however, from a very personal point of view – ALPHA Piano is Austrian. Located in St. Andrae Woerdern, not that far away from my old home town Vienna. ALPHA Pianos is a small company which was founded by Mario Aiwasian, who to my understanding is a formerly Boesendorfer employee.According to „Wirtschafts Blatt“ their instruments are designed by Porsche Design in Zell am See. That explains the great look.
Congratulations and I am really curious to get the chance playing the MPiano soon.
Please check ALPHA Pianos website.
