Video which shows the different steps:

Description:
My Track „Obligatory Berlin Sequence“ was created as a self imposed challenge to compose, record and release the track (Including Making of Video) within a 4 hour session.

The sounds design as I composed it was to evoke a final track sounding something between Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze as such the sounds I used were chosen mostly as conceits to the genre. Where normally a ‚Berlin School‘ track would run a lot longer and develop slowly due to the time restriction on recording and that I was making a Video at the same time the development runs at almost breakneck pace.

The track was composed directly into Logic Pro X using the internal Limiter, Compressors, Delays and Channel EQ. I used a mix of Eventide’s Blackhole Reverb and the Eventide 2016 Stereo Room, final mix bus was comprised of some EQ, a little more 2016 Stereo Room reverb to bring the mix together before final processing in iZotopes Ozone 6.

This is a great example of what one could do with a simple synthesizer like the Roland JU-06. I really like what you did and it lets me see the JU-06 with other eyes. „Noise“ and „Pulses“ already sound surprisingly good. I should add the link to your track first and the video second.

Thank you!

Peter

I really was a little bit irritated, when I saw the video, but when I listened to the multitrack of the video, I really was flashed of it. It’s a very simple track, but it’s amazing sounding, especially the sound quality and mixing is gorgeous. Thumbs up:-)). The small boutique synthesiser really good examples, that the instruments by itself are not the most important thing, but the artist, who works with it .
